UFC 100: Brock Lesnar Looking At Avenging UFC 81 Loss to Frank Mir

UFC 100 is fast approaching and one thing that all the UFC fans are waiting for is the main event. UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar against long time rival Frank Mir. Both fighters are not only fighting for the belt, which will be put on the line come July 11, 2009 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas Nevada. These two have met before inside the Octagon in UFC 81: Breaking Point last February 2, 2008 which was also held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, when Lesnar made his UFC debut. Mir won their first meeting after locking in Lesnar in a kneebar for a submission victory in the first round. UFC 100 will give the now heavyweight champion a chance at vengeance against the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master. This match-up has been long in the making as it was initially slated for UFC 98 which was held last May 23, 2009, but due to an injury to Frank Mir's knee it was put on hold and moved instead to UFC 100.

Their first battle in the octagon was anything but normal, with Frank Mir being pounded by Lesnar on the ropes before referee Steve Mazzagatti yanked the latter for illegal blows to the back of the head. This resulted in a deduction of a point against the former WWE champion but more importantly, it stopped his momentum which lead to Mir pulling being able to recover from a barrage of blows which had him on the verge of being knocked out. But in an instant, everything changed with Mir, on his back on the floor, grabbing Lesnar's leg and locking him in a kneebar which lead to the submission victory. I have found a video clip of their UFC 81 match. The website is in Japanese, but it doesn't make a difference as the action between Lesnar and Mir speaks for itself. Check out the UFC 81 video of Mir vs Lesnar here.

UFC 100 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting events in the UFC as of late and with the past that these two heavyweights have with each other, it only looks to make things even much more interesting. Don't miss out on UFC 100: Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir! It's surely gonna be a knockout even!
