Mayweather vs Marquez Fight Postponed! Mayweather Suffers Rib Injury!

Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have to wait a little longer before making his grand comeback to the ring as he suffered a rib injury while undergoing his training for his much anticipated bout against Juan Manuel Marquez.

The 32-year boxer from Las Vegas, Nevada was supposed to fight Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico in his return to boxing since beating Ricky Hatton by knockout last 2007. The Pay Per View fight which was scheduled on July 18 will now have to be pushed back with no confirmed schedule given yet. The undefeated Mayweather was very disappointed to have to put on hold his return to boxing and his drive to return to the upper echelon in the sport which has now gone to Filipino Manny Pacquiao as the General Santos City native have beated Oscar Dela Hoya in his retirement fight and knocking out Ricky Hatton in only 2 rounds last month during their bout. Marquez has also been a victim of Pacman as he was on the losing end of a split decision during their 2008 match.

Mayweather and Pacquiao are the two fighters that the boxing community would like to see fight against each other, with Pacquiao now being considered the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. This would truly be an exciting bout but Mayweather would need to prove himself as he still needs to beat Dinamita Marquez before he can be deemed worthy to fight Pacquiao.
